"Toyota had agreed to do so to "maintain their good relationship with Apple," "
Toyota has a relationship with Apple, good or bad? Why? I don't see the connection.
Well, to be honest, BOTH of there "Quality Assurance" (or rather lack thereof) has gone severly downhill in the last couple years. Oh yea, I say this as an owner of BOTH companies products....sadly:(:(
Now "HOW YA LIKE THEM APPLES STEVE JOBS??"

I am using the Barely There case mate. I got the case that is slightly rubberized as the smooth ones I thought would get very fingerprinted and be slippery.
Happy with my red case.

Agreed. A light, small, cheap Apple laptop targeted at students would be excellent, and an education iMac that's available to the public would be great too. Unlikely, but I'm with you on this one.
In other news, I expect the iMac to stay with an X1600 series card (because Apple have historically used the mid-range cards: 9600, X600, X1600 and possibly the rumored X2600s next year) so maybe an X1600 Pro and/or an XT. I also think that they should update the MacBook Pros graphics card because its a Pro laptop with a mid-range card so a Mobility X1800 would be nice.X600 Pro (iSight iMac G5 17") and X600 XT (iSight iMac G5 20") Hopefully we'll see a slight bump on the GPU.

So Palm is saying Apple can't make a phone as good as Palm. Palm makes smart phones, which I don't even know that Apple is making. But let's say they are. A smart phone is a cell phone combined with a PDA. Which leads to my question: didn't Apple invent the PDA with Newton, or did Palm come first?
I always assumed the Newton came first since everyone always says Newton's failing was being ahead of its time, but I might be wrong.
But nonetheless, you have to think that there must be valuable technology and learninge experience Apple has for having made both the Newton and the iPod that they would use in making a phone.

American cellular service is years behind the rest of the world. It is truly sad. I used to think that dropped lines and bad connections were just part of cell service. Now I realize that they are just part of American cell service.

Oh really? Wow I didn't know that... Sarcasm.
I'm talking about on a calculator. Enter it EXACTLY how it was in the OP and you'll get 288.
Looks like your sarcasm is on par with you math. When you have to explain sarcasm, it's not really sarcastic.

LOL WUT? You're honestly going to count emulated games (pirated in almost all cases) as Android games?
Wow.
Why wouldn't you count those as games? They are available for Android. They are not available on iOs.

Hopefully Apple will be sensible and call this the iPhone 4S. Which means I will wait for the real iPhone 5.
Just realised my last post was exactly one year ago! What a coincidence.....freaky.

It'll be quite an action-packed WWDC, if all these rumors pan out--which of course they wont.
-Leopard preview
-Mac Pros
-new iPod Nanos
-true video iPods
-iTMS movie downloads
-MacBook Pros with Meroms
Crazy. I'm betting against the consumer-related announcements. And hoping for MBPs with new enclosure and features.

The big deal is that i do not want buggy, resource stealing software on my mac. Simple as that.
Sophos does not seem to display these characteristics. That I've noticed.

By now you should know that Apple is a greedy company, just wanting to hurt others and bankrupt several in the process.. its corporate america at its best.. hopefully NOT FOR TOO LONG.
Too funny.
I love all the posts that say, "competition is good, keep Apple on its toes." Problem is, the competition is just copying what Apple has done. Who else is really innovating anything new? Who else has any sort of long term vision of where technology can take us? RIM, MS, HP? Doubtful. Google? All they want is to know everything about you to improve their ability to sell marketing information.
Apple making smart business decisions will only force others to rethink, innovate and create their own demand. Or die. Sorry if you don't like how the free market works.

but if nobody spends to buy that small business's product, how will it survive? Yes you need some saving, but spending is equally important. What we should have done was saved while the economy was going good and we could afford to have that money sitting on the sides and now that the economy is bad we should be spending to restart it. Of course the Republicans were irresponsible with their spending under Bush so now we don't have that money we should have saved to fall back on.
Nobody will spend? I find that hard to believe. We have about 300 million people in this country. And 6 billion in the world.
There is always demand. Demand is infinite. It is whether the price is at the right point for the individual. Even when we know a product will continual to decrease in price, there's a point at which we'll buy it. We've all waited to buy an ipod but we don't wait forever, even though we know the current model will be $50-100 less in September.
The idea that the majority of people will not spend anything for a protracted amount of time is ludicrous and only in the minds of clueless mainstream economists. Economists are a bit like creation scientists. They both approach the world seeking to validate their own beliefs. Both can continue to believe in their own beliefs because they never have to experiment. The economist doesn't understand how to make money and the creation scientist doesn't use the scientific method. Investors/traders and real scientists, on the other hand, are merely trying to understand the workings of something they can't change.

ah nothing like starting the day with a bit of ignorance.
+1 to some reality check.
This thread shows a lot of over simplification of how economies works and what is actually causing job loses.

Just to give you guys some perspective:
I ordered my custom Blackbook two days ago, ship date is 9/22, arrival date 9/29.
Basically, I got sick of waiting for Merom for the macbook and I couldn't justify the price jump to the MBP. In retrospect, I wish I wouldn't have waited so long but I'm glad I ordered when I did.
Sidenote of interest: I used a student developer discount on my purchase of a macbook and black 8 gig Nano. I was amazed to see the discount applied to the Nano as well, saving me another $30!

I can say CONFIDENTLY that the war is NOT over. It's been what 2 years? No way. Apple may have the upper hand in the battle but has NOT won the war.
What I'm saying is that by the time Android or WebOS or QNX catch up to the iPad, Apple will already be onto the next big thing. Tablets will have peaked, and the weak players will have dropped out.
So instead of following Apple and forever having your products known as iPad killers, why not spend the money that you'd put into designing mediocre tablets into creating the next device? I'm sure that Sammy, Moto, RIM, etc all have some budget to develop the next generation of devices, but I think they need to spend a lot more on the R&D.
For instance, when netbooks were all the rage, everyone was demanding that Apple come up with their own netbook. For whatever reason, Apple wasn't (and still isn't) in the netbook market. Instead, they spent their energies (and money) developing the successor to the netbook. In hindsight, we should have all seen it coming. Jobs even said that Apple couldn't make a decent 'computer' for less than $500. Apple was busy creating the iPad to be that device that folks would shell out $500 for. Genius.
So instead of waging a long, drawn out war against Apple for a small slice of the tablet market, work on making the successor to the tablet.

there's a big difference between the device knowing where it is/has been and that information actually being uploaded to "the mothership".
Correct, and that's why Steve is telling the truth unlike the trolls pretending this is an Apple conspiracy. That file is stuck on your hard disk and goes nowhere. Delete it and you don't even have that (as I did months ago when this story first broke). I tried the mapping tool and it won't work on my machine because consolidated.db cannot be found. Yet my iPhone works just fine, and Location Services works fine too.
Apple has never grabbed this information.
Android, on the other hand, exists so that it can serve advertiser's needs. Apple has been Opt In, but Android is Opt Out, which means your data gets transmitted to advertisers by default. You bet they track you on Droids. That's the entire business model.

I think that's kind of his point isn't it. I know I'd like to see more "media center" type features in my Mac. huh? I don't follow... his point was Apple needs to add HDMI for HD playback... 1) they don't and 2) it likely wont be HDMI (at least not for long) since HDMI doesn't cover the needs of near future computer displays.

In Apple will withdraw the iPod. Nobody needs it any more. Nobody wants it. A huge, useless, glowing apple will be all anyone will want.
