I think new displays are a STRONG possibility. Digital Photos need NICE big displays :-D Just like video editing does. I think we will definately see new displays announced.

Damn it. That means I'll always have to upgrade my iPhone every September. So, I'll buy the iPhone 5 this September, then I'll upgrade next September for the iPhone 6 with a 4inch screen and 4G :D; but, is there a limited time window in which you upgrade, because I don't want to lose out 2 months of texts / calls / internet (if I upgrade in July 2012).

As long as there's a way to burn a physical disc for emergencies, this is completely fine by me. I can set it to download when I go to work or bed, and finish the install when I get home or wake up.

I was with two friends last summer, one a geek the other knows nothing and does not care to know tech. The geeky friend was showing me his Android phone and non geek said to me is that an iphone copy? I paused and thought for a moment and said "yes, you could call it that, it is a copy". Even bank ATM's try harder to look different from each other while maintaining some usability.

Niice. I would assume that they forgo using the 2.0 GHz chip though. Right now, their lineup is pretty solid using two different speeds. Unless the modify the structure of the lineup (as in lower prices), I think it would make sense.
I aggree that Apple will only use two speeds in the upgraded MBP... but it'll be the slower two speeds. Even tho' Merom is supposed to be more energy efficent than Yonah, Apple will opt for the "cooller" lower speed cpus in the MBP. Similarly, when the "cut-down" Meroms come out (slower and smaller L2 cache), they'll be the CPUs used in the MacBook and Mac mini.
As an aside, TFA states that Merom will be used in the MBP.... which is true, but Apple are also going to use it in an updated iMac too :-)

As many observers have noted, the iOS location database does not record exact GPS data, instead seeking to pinpoint the locations of Wi-Fi access points and cell towers that the device comes within range of, although the database does offer a clear general track of a user's movements.
The bolded parts are key. The phone is simply keeping a cache of what towers and wifi sources are nearby, so it doesn't have to keep repeatedly doing the same searches over and over. It's like your Mac keeps a list of WiFi networks it has been connected to, so it doesn't have to ask you again the next time it sees them. Yes, that data can be used to point to roughly where you are, but it's not pinpoint accuracy like with GPS.
I think the easy solution to all this is simply to have this consolidated.db file roll off the old data after a couple of weeks or so, rather than keep it around for months or years at a stretch.

Bought TomTom car kit and although I still think its too expensive its handy if you travel a lot by air, rent cars and try to keep everything compact. If you don't have a need to switch you GPS from car to car a stand alone unit would be better due to bigger screen and more features.
Regarding the software Navigon works perfectly with the car kit. The features are close to those you could find in high end stand alone unit meaning its light years a ahead of TomTom's iPhone app, which is just as basic as you can get. In some way its funny how TomTom has a "high end" car dock but their iPhone app is more basic then in their entry level stand alone unit.

They have tons of cash, distribution channels, developer communities, and 00's million of desktops install that they can leverage. I've been poking along with a 3GS since they came out. Really want to switch to Verizon. This rumor puts people like me in a serious pickle: keep waiting and waiting and waiting for iPhone 5 to come out this year, if it even does it all, or grab an iPhone 4 now - a phone that has been out for nearly a year - and get burned in a couple of months by a surprise iPhone 5 announcement in June?
Here's what I did. I'm already a Verizon customer. I bought a new sealed iPhone 4 16GB out of contract for $450 on craigslist. I plan on re-selling the iPhone 4 for at least $250 when I get my iPhone 5. $200 is worth it to me to be on the iPhone right now for the next few months. Since January, I have had a sweet unlimited text/data promo plan on Verizon but wasn't taking full advantage of it because my old phones were so bad (env3 and palm pixi plus). With the iphone I feel like I am really using the services that i am paying for.

It's inaccurate because it doesn't track YOUR location, just the location of your nearest Cell Tower.
Your context is incorrect. I was referring to the website that supposedly has a lot of information about you, not the location database.

The entire idea of restoring from a Time Machine backup has always been illogical to me.
If Time Machine backs up everything, then it backs up whatever problems you had that resulted in your need for restore.
Time Machine has limited real use, and its basically limited to accidentally deleting things.
IT's very logaical. You do realize that Time Machine gives you a choice to restore from a range of backups, so whichever backup was ok you can restore from that one and if you broke something and after that OS was unbootable usually it's enough to restore from a backup few hours older at worst few days.

By separating Server from Lion client, I believe Apple will now pursue the Microsoft line of OS marketing...
We'll have Lion Home Premium (no Server) plus Lion Professional (with Server) and also you can buy Lion Ultimate (32 or 64 bit with or without Server and a new disk encryption facility)
Users of Snow Leopard will be able to upgrade to Lion Home Premium and/or Lion Profession without moving data, unless the data needs to be encrypted by copying to a Lion Ultimate (32 bit only edition) via the 64 bit Lion Home Premium or Professional without passwords and/or data...

Yes, precisely. Android and other handsets are moving to Tegra 2/Orion based platforms with maybe quad core SoCs coming in Fall '11 from nVidia. An A5 equipped iPhone shipping around September would be outdated the minute it hits the shelves as far as hardware is concerned.
With Pocket Legends already reporting that gaming on Android is making them more money than on iOS and this delay in Apple's usual release schedule, it could mean that iOS gaming could lose out to Android and set the pace for future developments, just like what happened to Apple in the 80s with the rise of the PC.
While I doubt we have anything to worry about short term as iOS device owners, if they keep this up in the long term and keep losing ground to Android, it might become a problem.

These smartphone stats are quite interesting. We have a open plan office and when I look around me I see about 5 iPhone 4's, 3 iPhone 3GS's and 1 android. :rolleyes:

I'd pay a premium for products manufactured in the US.
Products might be more expensive, but there would be more Americans employed. As much are there is a downside to producing here, there is also an upside.
Apple's only business is not the US and as things stand right now, people say that a 499 iPad is too expensive. Imagine what it would cost if they didn't manufacture these devices overseas.
