Question of the Day: The Glee Edition
What did you think of the Prom episode last night?
BTW Dave was so hot in his weak moments. I may come back just to watch him.

Yes, believe it or not... There is a 'Born This Way' Glee Episode
Good Grief! Glee is going down this uber-poppy, "please the teens" route of storytelling. Look out for the 'Born This Way' episode.
Glee‘s April 26 outing is so big that even its usual 60-minute time slot can’t contain it. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the episode is jam-packed with good stuff to the point that Fox will likely expand it to 90 minutes.Well, I'm sure it will be... Oh, Hell. This will be hokey. Most of the episodes are, which is why I don't watch it that much. Hopefully, Quentin Tarantino can take over for a season. I'm sick of the cotton candy styling of this show. Sorry to those who love it... I used to.
Coincidentally, the unorthodox installment features the music of an artist who knows a thing or two about breaking the rules: Lady Gaga. While not another tribute outing, the episode’s theme of self-acceptance was inspired by the singer’s runaway hit “Born this Way.” In fact, the title of the episode is “Born This Way” and it concludes with a rousing performance of the No. 1 smash.
Before that, though, the kids grapple with their own body image issues.
For example, Lauren (Ashley Fink) runs for prom queen, in so doing challenging the traditional notion of what a pageant princess looks like. Rachel (Lea Michele), meanwhile, considers getting a nose job.

Interesting Quote: Dave Grohl
“It’s every band’s right, you shouldn’t have to do f---ing Glee. And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his f---ing show… f--- that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do Glee.”
Dave is talking about Ryan Murphy's attitude towards musicians who refuse to have their songs on Glee.

Glee Characters described as F**S by a Vanity Fair writer, but later Apologized for it
I saw this over at Towleroad and thought, "Really?"
VF's Brett Berk wrote a Gay Guide to Glee. In his piece, he wrote about this clip here
He said:
Okay, so I went over to the main source and got this

I would like to apologize sincerely to anyone I offended with the use of the term “fag” (now removed) in this “Gay Guide to Glee” column. As an openly gay writer writing in an overtly overblown style, my intent in using the word in this offhanded way was to continue my consistent efforts to confront and challenge stereotype, to unpack the way in which language works, and to deconstruct the clever gender politics at play in the scene I described: teasing out the purposeful incongruity of this (foamy) attempt to make the conspicuously gay Dalton Warblers seem “sexy” to females. Anyone with even a whiff of familiarity with my writing will know that I am, and have long been, a tireless agitator, here at VF.com and elsewhere, for gay rights, as well as a huge supporter of everything Glee has accomplished in advancing a meaningful dialogue about homosexuality in our popular culture—and in our youth culture in particular.Glad he apologized, but this shouldn't go unnoticed. In this day and age, we can't afford this type of foolishness. Please be careful next time, Brett.

Glee's Ryan Murphy has a Hissy Fit over Kings of Leon's Rejection
Somebody needs to get it together. Glee's creator Ryan Murphy was pissed at Kings of Leon because they didn't release their songs for Glee's use. See here:
Then there are artists whose catalogs are off-limits. Glee’s best-known rejection: Kings of Leon, who rarely license their music. Murphy’s message to nonbelievers the Followill brothers? “F--- you, Kings of Leon,” he says, raising the volume of his monotonal interview voice ever so lightly. “They’re self-centered assholes, and they missed the big picture. They missed that a 7-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument. It’s like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of Glee all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music.”Ryan, it's not that serious. Glee is not that serious. Let's not go down this path, it's silly.
Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill tells THR: “This whole Glee thing is a shock to us. It’s gotten out of hand. At the time of the request, we hadn’t even seen the show. It came at the end of that record cycle, and we were over promoting [“Use Somebody”]. This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee or to music education or to fans of the show. We’re not sure where the anger is coming from.”

CW wants a Musical Teen Drama like 'Glee'... Good luck with that
Good Grief! CW wants horde in on the Glee train by making their version of a teen musical drama.
From Deadline
From Deadline
The CW has bought the music-themed hourlong Prickly Spheres, from writer Matt Goldman as well as Jeff Kwatinetz's production/music management company Prospect Park. The project centers on a talented teen who forgoes classical music scholarship to Julliard to joins a new indie alternative rock band whose quirky but talented members are barely adults themselves. Vision Art-repped Goldman and Kwatinetz are exec producing with Rich Frank and Paul Frank. This is the second music-driven project in the works at CW in addition to Todd Graff/Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas' Acting Out.I'm jumping the gun here, but this is a FAIL in the making. They would be better off remaking Satisfaction
