Gov. Jan Brewer would prefer for you to be Straight if you want to Adopt Children

Lord, just when I give this heifer a compliment, she turns around and kicks dirt on my Prada loafers. Jan has approved a bill that gives married couples preference over others for adopting kids.

Senate Bill 1188, which was sponsored by Sen. Linda Gray, R-Glendale, would require an adoption agency to give primary consideration to adoptive placement with a married man and woman, with all other criteria being equal.
The bill applies to both state and private adoption agencies. Previously, only Utah has a law requiring priority for married couples, though several other states have bans on adoptions by same-sex couples or by unmarried couples.
Conservative groups and other supporters of the measure said children should have every opportunity to grow up in a household with a mom and dad. But critics said the bill will discourage singles from considering adoption in Arizona. About one-third of the foster children in Arizona are adopted by an unmarried person.
So technically, it's not saying gays can't adopt, but it sure is hard as Hell for a gay couple to do so. Way to go, Jan.

Gov. Jan Brewer Vetoes Birther Bill and Guns on Campus

Well, I guess Jan has some sense. She decided to veto the stupid guns on campus bill and the ultra stupid Birther bill.  Here's more on the topic, including what the 2 bills would have allowed:

Guns on Campus Bill: SB 1467
- Would've allowed guns to be carried on public rights of way at public university and community college campuses
- Applies only to rights of way -- not inside classrooms
- University presidents opposed the bill

"This bill was very sloppily written and drafted, and I believe when it affects not only our education system, all the way from K-12 through the university, and we can't even find out a definition of what is a right of way... how are we going to enforce a law like that?" Governor Brewer told us.

'Birther' Bill: HB 2177
- Would've required President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens before their names can appear on the state's ballot
- Arizona would've become the first state to require such proof
- 13 other states have considered similar proposals this year. The proposals were defeated in Arkansas, Connecticut, Maine and Montana
As for her decision to veto this bill, Gov. Brewer said in part: "I never imagined being presented with a bill that could require candidates for President of the greatest and most powerful nation on earth to submit their 'early baptismal or circumcision certificates'… this is a bridge too far. This measure creates significant new problems while failing to do anything constructive for Arizona."
I can't believe I'm saying this, but good job Jan.

Arizona wants to see Proof of Birth and your COCK if you want to run for President

Arizona continues to show America how silly and foolish they are. Their lawmakers has passed the most ridiculous measure to date... HB 2177.

HB 2177, sponsored by Rep. Carl Seel, R-Phoenix, would require presidential and vice presidential candidates to provide the Arizona secretary of state with documents proving they are natural-born citizens.
Those documents can be either a long-form birth certificate or two or more other permitted documents, including an early baptismal certificate, circumcision certificate, hospital birth record, postpartum medical record signed by the person who delivered the child or an early census record.
If a candidate failed to submit required documents or the secretary of state deemed them insufficient, the candidate would not be listed on Arizona's ballot.
The bill has come before the Legislature several times in the past two years in various forms and has been proposed so far unsuccessfully in several other states in recent years.
It stems from questions about President Barack Obama's origin. Hawaii officials have repeatedly confirmed Obama's birth in their state, but some continue to believe that he was born in Kenya, his father's homeland.
Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Phoenix, voted against the bill and said he was embarrassed by his fellow lawmakers.
"Arizona is the first state to pass a birther bill. We look pretty much backward," Gallego said. "You might as well change Arizona to Alabama."
Can we send Arizona to another galaxy?

3 States' Approach to Gay Marriage, Partner Benefits and Civil Unions

In Indiana:
A vote in the Indiana House on a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage has been delayed for at least a day.

Resolution sponsor Rep. Eric Turner of Marion said he wouldn't call it for a vote on Monday because some House members who want to support it were absent for the day. He didn't specify when he expected a vote.

Political analysts expect that the ban is almost certain to pass, with Republicans in control of the Legislature. The amendment states that only marriage between one man and one woman is valid in Indiana, and prohibits civil unions by stating that a legal status "substantially similar" to marriage for unmarried people is not valid.
Opponents have argued that the amendment isn't needed because Indiana law already bans gay marriage, but supporters said they are concerned that the courts could overturn that law.Supporters also contend that traditional heterosexual marriage is best for raising children. Opponents said the amendment seeks to write discrimination into the state's constitution.

In Colorado: Senator Pat Steadman introduced a bill to create civil unions in the Colorado.

And in Arizona:
Attorneys for the state will ask a federal appeals court today to let Arizona stop providing insurance benefits for the partners of gay workers.

Assistant Attorney General Charles Grube contends U.S. District Judge John Sedwick was wrong to issue an injunction last year barring the state from altering its benefits package.
That ruling requires Arizona to keep funding the coverage until there is a final ruling, which could take years.
State lawmakers voted to end the benefits to save money.

Grube said that before issuing an injunction, Sedwick was required to consider not only the claims of harm to the people losing benefits, but the harm to the state by being required to maintain them. But Grube said Sedwick was "explicitly dismissive" of evidence presented by the state about the cost burden on taxpayers of continuing to provide coverage.

Conversely, Grube said Sedwick gave too much credibility to what he said are little more than unproven allegations by those challenging the law.

Arizona provides benefits to the dependents of its state and university employees. But before 2008, that didn't include domestic partners of unmarried workers.
Trying to keep y'all informed.

Tucson's Tea Party Leader blames Giffords for getting Shot

They just don't know when to quit, but hey, it good to see their true colors.

This son of jackal, Trent Humphries, blames Giffords for trying to destroy the Tea Party. Oh, he is Tucson TP leader, by the way:

But Trent Humphries says there is another innocent victim left by Jared Lee Loughner's killing of six people and wounding of 14 others in his assassination attempt against Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. It is his Tea Party movement and, more particularly, his family. The killings, he says, are evolving into a conspiracy to destroy his organisation and silence criticism of the government.

Humphries is the co-founder of Tucson's Tea Party, a movement besieged by accusations that its use of the rhetoric of armed resistance against political opponents played a role in the shootings.

The local sheriff, Clarence Dupnik, quickly pointed the finger at the growing vitriol, hate and anger directed against the government on talk radio and by Tea Party supporters in Arizona, where Democrats and liberals from President Obama to Giffords are portrayed as enemies of the people, un-American or Nazis.
Giffords herself warned that the Tea Party favourite, Sarah Palin, was "firing people up" with a campaign poster that put the Democratic party congresswoman in the crosshairs of a rifle.

Humphries is having none of it. "A lot have taken as gospel that the sheriff says that this was caused by talk radio, by Tea Party extremists, that that must be the case. I think it's done a lot of damage. It's given people the idea that somebody like my wife and I caused this murder. There's no evidence. And there's no evidence Sarah Palin caused this murder," he said. "The Democrats are using this opportunity to bludgeon their opponents. People don't want to hear that it was just some stupid, evil act that had no bearing in rationality. They want it to make sense."
Please watch this fool

7 Things Arizona Could do to Reboot their Image

Arizona has many negative overtones to it. It's known as the state of bigots, skinheads, racists, thieves, hate groups, teabaggers, uber-conservatives and failed beauty queens.

In years, Arizona has been the epicenter of mess. Remember the MLK holiday drama, SB 1070 and the Obama ASU debacle? After the Giffords shooting, Arizona has a mega mess to clean. So to be nice, I will offer 7 ways Arizona could reboot their image.
  1. Bring back ethnic studies in schools. Removing this from schools confirmed the belief that 'White is Right'. Students need to learn about the growing number minorities moving to the state.
  2. Change the immigration laws. Nothing more to say about that.
  3. Improve your largest university, ASU. Make the college it a top school. Set standards and push to produce top notch education powerhouse.
  4. Challenge the ultra-conservative image you have embraced. For reason, Arizona is proud of this image, I think it's time to change that. Again, minorities are growing in the state. Sooner or later that image will be changed with or without their blessing.
  5. Be aware of the Hate Groups harboring in the state. They have way too many groups living there. It's time to publicly denounce them and put them out.
  6. Reduce the pro-gun laws in the state. There's no need to carry guns in church or in parks. It is ridiculous.
  7. Remove Jan Brewer.
